Isn’t riddled with insecurity
Scrolling on a screen
Looking for meaning,
Pining for designer clothes
And ‘summer bodies’
Racing up the corporate ladder,
The real you
Isn’t exhausting your years
Playing catch up
Compensating for childhood traumas,
Proving people wrong,
Building statues in honor
Of your coping mechanisms,
Holding onto whatever you can find in this life
For fear that there’s nothing else,
Chasing after more and more
And finding less and less
Every time.
No.
Most of us haven’t even met the
Real us.
It turns us that the path
To finding our true identity
Is found in giving up
The one we’ve constructed for ourselves.
If God really is God
And we are made from dust,
Then whoever He says we are
Is infinitely greater
Than any identity
Of our own making.
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:1-4
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17
