In many respects,
We live simultaneously the best and worst lives of any generation gone before us.
The potential for greatness has never been greater
Nor has the proximity of discontent ever been closer.
Its easier to get more things in this life than ever before,
Especially if you’re born in the right places with access to the right resources – and even that is gradually improving too.
Yet still we see that the depravity of mankind
Is still just as dark. Just as deep.
We have accelerated past the dark ages
Only to find darkness is still lurking in our hearts.
I Imagine that depression is somewhat less difficult to bear, when it’s causes are clear and understandable,
But when we can finally grasp what we’ve been hoping for all along
And find ourselves still wanting;
What can be the remedy?
We, like King Solomon, may soon find our hearts empty
Though our are hands and pockets are full.
We have accelerated past depravity around us
Only to uncover it within.
What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
