The regard of my neighbor
Means too much to me.
Its embarrassing that I care so much.
I crave too deeply for
A look of approval on their face,
My heart yearns too much
For the stranger passing me by
To show interest in my person-
I hope they can see how complex I am
That I somehow stand out
Among the masses.
These foolish hopes of mine
Are rarely rewarded
And add to the persistent thought
That I am truly insignificant in this world
Just another nameless human
In a faceless crowd-
Just another person.
