Wonderful things
Don’t materialize
In our souls
Overnight.
Character requires that
That life itself happens to us
Before it coalesces.
Life demands living
Firsthand,
Not vicariously through a book
And not on the fence, observing others-
No safe zones
Where the minutes don’t matter.
We cannot live
Anyone else’ life
No matter how hard we try.
Our greatness
Will come along the way
On the path of the mundane
In the way of seeming obscurity-
We do not know when
The moment of greatness will come-
Ours is to live the best we can
Every day.
