What if no one reads it?

Well, if its never written
Then even you won’t get to read it.
Words on a page
Have a life of their own
And you have no idea
What havoc they might wreak
Or what beauty they might
Unfurl like a flag
In the hearts and minds
Of those who read them.
Thoughts can be fleeting
And quickly dismissed
But words on a page
Can start fires
That burn for generations.
What if no one reads it?
Then at least you would
Have done your part
To make something new
To take a chance
To offer a gift.
Who knows?
Perhaps these very words
You nearly dismissed
May just be the words
We all needed to hear.
