It seems in order to succeed
In a less than perfect world
A certain amount of
Disregard
Is necessary.
For the leader to let go of
Her perfectionism
And find ways to accept the members of her team
For who they actually are
While inspiring them to be better.
For the follower to abandon
His rigid preferences
Of how he would like his leaders to be
And submit himself to the reasonable
Directives of their leadership
While holding them accountable.
None of us are going to make it
By being uncompromising
Demanding
Demeaning of those
That don’t perfectly tow our line.
Grace is needed.
A readiness to
Disregard our pre-determined ideas
Of what should be,
To embrace a better reality.
