Watching the wind

God called man
To be stewards of His creation
To name the animals He made
To inhabit the earth He created
To be sowers of seed-
Not watchers of wind
Nor foretellers
Of what will succeed
And what will fall to pieces.
There’s something about
Sowing seed
That demands trust.
For every crop that has ever
Been produced
We have only sown the seed,
And done our best to nurture it,
Because ultimately the life it bears
Or doesn’t,
Is His doing.
To watch the wind
In an attmept to avoid disappointment
Is to put ourselves in His place,
Calculating the incalculable
Trying to create certainties
Where there are none.
We are responsible for the labor
Not the fruit of it,
For the leaps of faith
Not the places we land,
To live life
Not control it.
Our lives are in His Hands
And we will never truly
Create a version of this life
Devoid of the unforeseen,
No matter how hard we try.

Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
As you do not know the path of the wind or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.
~Ecclesiastes 11:3-6

Very profound, last night i gave my pot plants a treat and replaced the pot soil. Previously i used compost and this time i used real soil, in the morning i woke up and my plants were all wilted. I waited 5 hours for a change. Something prompt me to mix the soil and fertilise the plants. Thought it was work, unnecesarry, afterall i replaced the soil because it had insuffient nutrients, anyway so i did. All this time i kept on telling God i will do my best but if the plants wilt again, i cannot keep them. I needed His favour. Now seeing this, I’m all touched because i could watched the wind and give up but i trusted Him for the wisdom. Currently my plants are recovering, couple of leaves have straightened up now.
This could apply literally everywhere in our lives. Thank you.

  2. I love reading your work. It’s just so raw & authentic. It reminds me of my childhood in a farm with my grandmother, sister, uncle and aunt. Life was young. Those honest moments have added to my creativity. Your writing is full of depth. And for such a young man I wonder how you have managed to gunner such wisdom.
