On ‘acting white’

In many African languages
The word for ‘white’
Is often the same word used
Colloquilly for ‘better’
Or ‘superior’ or even
‘Learned’.
Chirungu
Segoa

It is no wonder then
That it seems that when
You are in some postion of
Good fortune
Have good taste
Provide a quality service
Or have some advantage
That has come your way
Then you can be said to ‘acting white’.
Being good at something doesn’t mean
‘Acting white’
And acting white
Doesn’t mean you’re good.
