Shaking my head.
Passing judgement
Casting stones
Handing out shame. Freely.
Levelling my gaze of disapproval,
Of borderline disgust
And disappointment
At this person
Who never seems to get it right
Who regularly sinks to the level
Of my low expectations
Whose accomplishments are easy to overlook
And whose faults are so glaringly obvious.
I’ve become a pro at all this negativity
And I know just where to land my blows
For I am well aquatinted with this person who
I relentlessly criticise and wound
In hopes that he might one day shed his
Imperfections.
You see, I know him so well
Because this person that I
Ruthlessly condemn
Is me.
If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
