More choice doesn’t always lead to better outcomes.
Fighting for more
Is not the same
As fighting for better.
When options are narrowed
Distractions are easier to wean out
And the stakes are raised for the
Paths we do choose to take,
Coasting is not an option
When there’s nowhere to hide.
In a world where the default is to ask for more,
Its easy to find ourselves crowded out
By our own appetites
Cornered behind the never ending supply
Of the new.
Narrow gates can lead to open spaces.
Sometimes the very limitations we chaff under
Are helping us shed dead skin
And making a way for a simpler version of our lives
That we might actually
Enjoy.
