There is an uncomfortable space in learning
When the ones who have something to teach
Reach the limits of their influence and
Have to reconcile with the reality
That true learning is always voluntary.
You cannot micromanage growth.
It has to happen. Inherently.
From within.
Growth is a fruit born of the will of the learner.
For those who are to be taught
They must also make peace with the reality
That the teacher may often address things
We would rather they not address.
For learning is often about discomfort,
The discomfort that comes from being pulled
Out of the familiar.
Indeed, no true learning is without friction.
For growth to take place
The teacher must learn
When to allow for autonomy
And the student must know when to surrender it.
