Doesn’t mean you’re off the hook.
You are responsible for the attitude you bring
And we will hold you accountable for how you show up,
As we should.
The intern part is inescapable:
There’s a lot to learn
And real learning is never easy.
The “just” part is an add on.
It’s a choice to see yourself as insignificant,
And behave accordingly.
You don’t have to internalize
The low expectations others may have of you.
In fact, it’s the people that routinely ignore such
Expectations and show up generously
That we all love to work with.
And if the people around you don’t appreciate
The value you bring,
Don’t worry, there are others watching
Who do.
