Where does love come from?

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:26-27

We were made in Their Image and Likeness.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

A complete, self-sustaining entity

That needed nothing outside of Itself.

Neither for glory, nor for fulfillment

But out of a pure and simple choice;

To make the world out of wisdom,

As though it were a natural consequence of a beautiful Union.

He made us. Not out of necessity, as though God needed anything,

But as an artist creates, bringing forth something material out of something immaterial: Love.

Like how entire human clans have been borne and sustained by an invisible union between a man and woman

Whose coming together created a tangible thing: family.

You see, God does not love you because you are lovely

Or because we are so responsive to His love,

If that were so would He have spent His own blood purchasing us back when were were yet His enemy?

No, His Love is the source of all love.

The love between Father, Son and Holy Spirit powers the entire universe.

It made life possible

And made union with God Himself an attainable reality.

When Christ calls us to love each other,

It is with these infinite resources in Mind.

Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Not as a response to their behavior

Nor how worthy you perceive them to be of your love,

But from the experience of being loved yourself

By God Almighty in His infinite wisdom.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:6-8
