We broke a window yesterday at my cousin’s.

Well, actually, the wind broke it.

But it’s because we left it open during the storm.

Partly our fault but

Mostly nature’s doing.

Anyways, we fixed it today.

Partly because we could afford to

Mostly because it’s the kind of thing that happens here.

Problems get solved.

Solutions are found.

Coz of the money, duh.

But maybe it’s not just coz of the access to resources,

Maybe it’s also because of a decision to deal with the problem.

To not let certain things lie.

Some of the problems we allow to fester, do so

Not just because we lack the resources to deal with them

But because we agreed to live with them.

Sometimes it really is just our own choosing to not deal with things,

Sometimes it’s not just coz of your bank account or your schedule.

Sometimes we excuse our way into mediocrity,

Living with broken windows and untended aspirations

Even after we gain the capacity to deal with them,

Simply because we choose to.

The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road!

There is a lion in the streets! As a door turns on its hinges,
so does a sluggard on his bed.

The sluggard buries his hand in the dish;
it wears him out to bring it back to his mouth.

The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes

Than seven men who can answer sensibly.

Proverbs 26:13-16
