I used to dream of a reunion
Of old companions I had once known;
I would finally gain their admiration,
And wave my credentials in their faces as evidence of my worth,
Flex my muscles to dispel any ideas of weakness,
And proudly rattle off my accomplishments as the final testament of my worth,
A triumph over that deep sickening sense of my own inadequacy.
But now, in Christ, there is a greater day to look forward to.
A day when every tear is wiped away
And I fully realize that God Himself has swallowed up my inadequacy,
That when He accepted me years ago,
There were no more points to prove,
No more dependency on the applause of men,
When Christ Himself triumphs over my worst nightmares.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
